CAPSULE COLLECTION
By DESCENTE for Graphpaper
DESCENTE, the Osaka sportswear house founded in 1935, works with Graphpaper, the Tokyo designer collective, on a capsule collection due out on October 24. The two have moved together before, and this iteration tightens the weave between DESCENTE's performance know-how and Graphpaper's proportional minimalism. DESCENTE began as a maker of sports uniforms and track kits for Japanese athletes, and still works from that baseline of functional tailoring, while Graphpaper, run by designer Daiki Suzuki since 2010, builds clothes in a Tokyo studio and sources production across East Asia, leaning on clean lines and a neutral palette.
The capsule spans outerwear, knitwear and bottoms, with pieces that draw on DESCENTE's archive of performance silhouettes—jackets with taped seams and standing collars, trousers cut through the hip for movement, layered vests. The palette stays muted: greys, blacks and navy, with accents in white and cream. This restraint means the fit and construction sit at the foreground.
Materials are a deliberate blend. Some pieces use DESCENTE's own synthetic shells for weather resistance, particularly in the outerwear. Others pair cotton or wool with nylon or polyester in a way that adds texture without sacrificing simplicity. Seaming is precise throughout—a marker of both houses' attention to detail.
DESCENTE's approach to manufacturing remains rooted in Japan. The label still runs owned facilities in addition to contracted production, which means the company controls a good deal of the final finish. Graphpaper's ties to Asia-wide makers gives the capsule access to mills and cutters outside Japan, which opens up material choices that DESCENTE alone might not pursue.
The capsule launches on October 24 at DESCENTE flagship stores in Osaka and Tokyo, through Graphpaper's online shop and at select multi-brand retailers. Prices have not been announced with the preview, but typical DESCENTE pieces range from 12,000 to 35,000 yen and Graphpaper items from 10,000 to 28,000 yen.
