GEL-BELARRAOTTO

By OTTO958 for ASICS SportStyle

OTTO958 and ASICS SportStyle release a new shoe in Japan on 21 October: the GEL-BELARRAOTTO, a low runner-meets-football silhouette whose main feature is a detachable gaiter cut from the same fabric as the upper.

OTTO958 is a joint project between the designer Kiko Kostadinov and Moran Moran, a Los Angeles art gallery. It is not a Japanese label, but ASICS, founded in Kobe, supplies the footwear engineering and the archive the project keeps going back to. The pair have worked together before, notably on the GEL-FLEXKEE PRO in 2023 and the GEL-SD ARZACHOTTO pack released this spring.

The upper is built from lightweight ripstop mesh. The gaiter, made from the same material, clips on and off, so the shoe can be worn as a low trainer or with a covered ankle. Its outline recalls the ASICS STORMRACER Junior, an earlier ASICS model, while the outsole takes its cues from the ASICS DESTAQUE K FF TF, a performance football shoe made for artificial turf, hard courts and indoor futsal floors.

In Japan the GEL-BELARRAOTTO is priced at 28,600 yen, tax included. It is sold at KIKO KOSTADINOV TOKYO in Jingumae, DOVER STREET MARKET GINZA, GR8, KITH, mita sneakers, and at selected ASICS directly operated stores and on the ASICS online store.
