REMAKE MA-1

By MIYAGIHIDETAKA

MIYAGIHIDETAKA releases a remade MA-1 built from dismantled vintage clothing, in step with the OPEN HOUSE at DOVER STREET MARKET GINZA.

MIYAGIHIDETAKA is a Tokyo label launched in March 2018 by the designer Hidetaka Miyagi, with a shop in Ebisu. The MA-1 is one of its regular models, and for autumn/winter 2026 the designer made a remake version himself.

The raw material is vintage clothing: M-65 field jackets, military shirts, camouflage jackets, French work jackets, coveralls and similar garments. Each is taken apart and its fabric is recut to fit the different parts of the MA-1, such as the body and the sleeves. The colours, patterns and textures of each original are kept as they are.

The pieces are then joined as patchwork, sewn one by one on a sewing machine. The jackets are therefore made up of a mix of fabrics rather than a single cloth.

The jacket comes in four colours. Two of them, dark camo and blue, are limited to DOVER STREET MARKET GINZA.

The MA-1 costs 176,000 yen, tax included. The source does not list a full retail schedule, and refers readers to MIYAGIHIDETAKA for details on the other products and availability.
