Sonor
sonor is a Japanese leather-goods brand centered on bags and small accessories. The label works primarily with domestic materials and is led by Akiko Sonoda, who produces leather items by hand. Its core material is pigskin certified under the Japan Eco Leather standard, with additional lines in Tochigi leather, Himeji leather, and some nylon items. The brand’s practice is defined by material selection and small-scale making rather than seasonal styling. Its pigskin is a by-product of the meat industry and is tanned in Tokyo using vegetable tannins such as mimosa. sonor also uses a post-sewing washing process in its ARAI series, giving the leather a dry, wrinkled surface that softens and develops sheen through use. Natural marks, tonal variation, and irregularity are retained rather than corrected. Within Japan’s contemporary craft and design landscape, sonor sits between independent maker culture and functional everyday goods. What distinguishes it is not novelty of form but the consistent use of eco-certified domestic pigskin, the translation of leather into unusually light bags, and a production logic that treats variation, aging, and material trace as part of the finished object.

How to buy

  1. 01

We buy and ship it for you

We haven't verified Sonor's international checkout yet. Honmono can order in Japan on your behalf and forward it to you — one contact, one invoice, no Japanese address needed.

  2. 02

    Use a dedicated proxy service

A proxy such as Buyee or ZenMarket gives you a Japanese address, buys the item and forwards it. Cheaper than a concierge, but expect forwarding fees, a longer wait and customs on arrival.

  3. 03

    Buy it while in Japan

Buy direct from the official shop or a Japanese retailer while you're there — tax-free at most stores on presentation of your passport.
