REDMOON
REDMOON is a Japanese total leather fashion brand founded in 1993 by Keiichiro Goto. Based in Kawaguchi, Saitama, the brand continues to produce its products at its own atelier and factory, now known as VILLAGE WORKS. REDMOON develops original leather goods including wallets, bags, belts, and other accessories, distributed through its directly operated stores and official online channels. The brand began in a small three-tatami-room atelier of roughly five square meters. From the beginning, Goto’s vision was simple: to create products that genuinely matter, stand the test of time, and serve a meaningful purpose in people’s lives. REDMOON approached leather not as decoration, but as something to live with — objects designed to become part of everyday life through years of use. Early on, REDMOON redefined the leather wallet as a durable personal tool rather than simply a fashion accessory. Its signature “Horse Riding” wallet (HR-01) introduced a new balance of simplicity, practicality, and style, designed to pair naturally with denim and casual wear. At the same time, it helped introduce the idea of leather aging as a personal and evolving value — a material that gains character and depth through continued use rather than deterioration. Every product is designed in-house and produced through an atelier-based approach, with each piece carefully handcrafted. REDMOON is particularly known for its robust saddle leather, developed in collaboration with Japanese tanneries. These materials are selected not only for durability, but for the way they deepen in texture, color, and character over time. In 1994, REDMOON established its own workshop and formally launched REDMOON Design & Company. In 1997, the brand opened its own factory, THE WORKS — now known as VILLAGE WORKS — where it continues both the development of original products and the training of future leather artisans. Central to its production philosophy is a system in which a single craftsman oversees the entire process, from leather cutting to final stitching, ensuring consistency, accountability, and quality in every piece. The making process combines dedicated leather knives with vintage foot-powered sewing machines, reflecting REDMOON’s respect for traditional craftsmanship and its deep understanding of leather as a material. While best known for its leather wallets, REDMOON also expanded into apparel during the 1990s, particularly with its deerskin shirt introduced in 1996, which became an important part of the brand’s identity and recognition. Guided by the philosophy of “evolving basics,” the brand continues to create products that feel simple yet distinctive — pieces designed to develop a personal relationship with the people who use them over time. Within Japan’s leather landscape, REDMOON occupies a unique position shaped not by conventional notions of luxury, but by durability, honesty, and values cultivated through time. Its strength lies in the direct relationship between design, craftsmanship, and daily use, creating leather products that are not merely owned, but lived with. Built upon decades of craftsmanship, an independent production system, and a deep passion for making, REDMOON continues to approach leather with sincerity and respect. Valuing the warmth of handcraft and the continuity of making, the brand creates products intended to be carried, repaired, aged, and passed from person to person over time. Within each piece lives not only the value that deepens with age, but also a quiet connection between maker and user.

How to buy

  1. 01

We buy and ship it for you

We haven't verified REDMOON's international checkout yet. Honmono can order in Japan on your behalf and forward it to you — one contact, one invoice, no Japanese address needed.

  2. 02

    Use a dedicated proxy service

A proxy such as Buyee or ZenMarket gives you a Japanese address, buys the item and forwards it. Cheaper than a concierge, but expect forwarding fees, a longer wait and customs on arrival.

  3. 03

    Buy it while in Japan

Buy direct from the official shop or a Japanese retailer while you're there — tax-free at most stores on presentation of your passport.
