Mue
mue is a Japanese skincare brand centered on handcrafted soap. Operated by Sparkler Ltd., the company sells bar soap, powdered soap, and cream soap, positioning soap not as a generic toiletry but as a carefully formulated cleansing medium for different skin conditions. Its products are sold directly and through cultural retail settings, including CIBONE and the shop at The National Art Center, Tokyo. The brand’s core method is cold-process soapmaking. For its bar soaps, mue selects and blends dozens of plant oils in proprietary ratios, then uses a low-temperature, frame-mold curing process intended to preserve the character of the oils and retain naturally occurring glycerin. Its powdered soap is made by finely milling cold-process soap and, according to the brand, reusing residue generated during hand production. The newer cream soap extends the same soap base with added beauty oils and lotion-like components to create a semi-solid cleanser. What distinguishes mue is the way it links small-scale soap manufacture with design-led product development. The company maintains a production base in Tokyo, offers custom soap manufacturing in small lots, and works across retail, workshops, and commissioned projects. In a Japanese beauty market dominated by industrial cleansers and ingredient-led branding, mue treats soap as a crafted format that can be reformulated, reshaped, and contextually designed without leaving the logic of making behind.

How to buy

  1. 01

We buy and ship it for you

Mue doesn't ship abroad. Honmono can order in Japan on your behalf and forward it to you — one contact, one invoice, no Japanese address needed.

  2. 02

    Use a dedicated proxy service

A proxy such as Buyee or ZenMarket gives you a Japanese address, buys the item and forwards it. Cheaper than a concierge, but expect forwarding fees, a longer wait and customs on arrival.

  3. 03

    Buy it while in Japan

Buy direct from the official shop or a Japanese retailer while you're there — tax-free at most stores on presentation of your passport.
