DOUBLE A-SIDE BAG

By doublet x POTR

doublet and POTR have worked together for the first time, and the result is a bag with no back: an A-side/A-side piece, named after the double A-side single, the old format in which both sides of the record were meant to carry the release. Every face of the bag is treated as a front.

doublet was founded in Tokyo in 2012 by Masayuki Ino and took the LVMH Prize in 2018, the first Asian designer to do so, on the strength of clothes that pair everyday forms with a joke or a jolt. POTR is a line of Yoshida & Co., the Tokyo bag house Kichizo Yoshida founded in 1935 and whose Porter label, set up in 1962, became the reference for nylon bags in Japan. The two labels come from different ends of that history: one is known for ideas, the other for construction that lasts decades.

The concept carries into the apparel that accompanies the bags. Those garments are made to be worn with either side facing out, so that the front and the back are equally finished, down to the seams and the trims. Part of the apparel range is limited to selected stores, which makes the collaboration a partial one for anyone shopping outside Japan or outside the stockists.

Yoshida & Co.'s craft sits in the construction rather than in ornament: the bags are built so that no side reads as the underside, which is a harder pattern to cut than it sounds. doublet's contribution is the licence to make a bag that refuses to pick a front.

The collaboration launches on 10 October. To mark it, PORTER OMOTESANDO the PORTER Gallery 1 will hold a limited-period event that also carries doublet's Autumn/Winter 2026 collection. No prices were announced with the release.
