ALL-WEATHER MOCCASIN

By DELUXE x SUICOKE

DELUXE and SUICOKE have spent the past few seasons working the same seam between Tokyo streetwear and technical footwear, and their latest release applies it to a moccasin built for the wet end of the year. The shoe is all black, water-repellent and lined with SUICOKE's own waterproof and breathable membrane, with a Vibram outsole underneath.

DELUXE has worked out of Tokyo since 2003, drawing on street culture from elsewhere and refining it in the city, with an eye on tailoring as much as on high street. SUICOKE was founded in Tokyo in 2006 and made its name on performance sandals before pushing into closed shoes and boots, which is where the two brands' common ground sits. They have collaborated repeatedly in recent seasons, most often on mock-toe and boot silhouettes, and this moccasin continues that line rather than restarting it.

The upper is a heavy leather treated for water repellency, stitched in the low, rounded shape of a classic moccasin, with an apron seam running around the toe. Inside, SUICOKE SHERPA handles waterproofing and breathability, while the SOFTSTEP insole and the Vibram sole deal with support and grip on wet pavement. Boot lace hardware sits high on the ankle, and the whole shoe is dressed in a single black, sole included.

The detail that marks the pair as a DELUXE project sits at the back: the words FUCK and OFF are embossed on the left and right heel respectively, legible to whoever is walking behind rather than to the wearer. It is the kind of joke the label has built its following on, and it is the only graphic on an otherwise plain shoe.

The moccasin goes on sale on 10 October through the DELUXE online store and authorised retailers. No price was announced with the release.
